Policies & Patron Services



Our number one priority is to keep everyone in our theatre safe so we will be following current COVID-19 safety protocols at each show, as well as implementing a flexible return and exchange policy so you can purchase tickets without worry. Please note that some rentals do no allow refunds or exchanges unless a show is canceled or rescheduled. For a list of shows covered by our flexible policy, please click here.


Exchanges are available to select Auditorium presented shows for a fee or free to Auditorium Theatre subscribers. Please call 312.341.2300 to exchange. Some rentals do not allow refunds or exchanges. If a show is canceled, a refund will be issued. If a show is rescheduled and you cannot attend the new date, a refund will be issued.


All patrons must have a ticket for admittance, and in all instances babes in arms are not permitted. It is the sole responsibility of the parent or guardian to research and judge the content of a performance as appropriate for their child’s age and level of maturity. There is no official rating system for live performance.


Most performances at the Auditorium Theatre have a strict policy of no late seating. Guests arriving late or leaving the theatre during the performance will be seated in a designated section and may take their ticketed seats at intermission, if applicable.


Please turn off all electronic devices that may ring, beep, vibrate, or otherwise produce a sound that may disrupt performances.. Electronic devices include mobile phones, pagers, and alarm watches.

The use of video, photographic, or any other recording devices is strictly prohibited during performances.


Smoking of any kind is strictly prohibited in the theatre and within 25 feet of any entrances.


In the event of a theatre evacuation, look for the lighted exit sign closest to you and walk to that exit.


In compliance with the Illinois Firearms Concealed Carry Act, the Auditorium Theatre prohibits the carrying of weapons of any kind in the theatre and on theatre property.


In addition to firearms, outside food, drinks, weapons of any kind, large bags, bullhorns or noisemakers, gifts, costumes, masks, confetti or glitter, UAVs/drones, hover boards, large bags/backpacks, luggage, signs of any type, or selfie-sticks, and other items deemed unsafe by management are prohibited. No cameras (photo or video), no professional camera equipment (i.e., tripods, monopods, etc.), no photos of any kind, no video recording of any kind, and no audio recording of any kind are permitted in the theatre.


Please be aware there may be video recording and/or photography of audience members taking place throughout the day. By entering the theatre, you consent to your voice, name, image, and/or likeness being used, without compensation, by the Auditorium Theatre, in any medium of publicity or advertising, and you release the Auditorium Theatre, its members, agents, employees, and board from any liability.


By entering the theatre, you may be subject to an airport-style security screening.

Patron Services

The Patron Services Office is located just inside Aisle One (1) of the main floor and is open during all performances to assist guests with any needs. Should you need to reach Patron Service via telephone, please call 312.341.2300.


Concession stands are located in the main and third floor lobbies for all performances and additional stands may be added for certain performances. Outside food and beverages are not allowed in the building. Generally, with the exception of bottled water, all purchased snacks and beverages must be consumed in the lobby. Occasionally, drinks may be allowed in the seating area – Ask any member of our concessions or usher staff about the performance you are attending.


A courtesy phone for local calls is available in the Patron Services Office.

Coat Check is seasonal and located in the main floor lobby between Aisles 2 and 3. The cost is $2 per item. Furs are not accepted.


Found articles should be left with the Patrons Services Office located in Aisle 1 of the main lobby. To determine whether a personal article has been turned in to the Lost and Found, please call 312.341.2300. Any items lost or presumed stolen are not the responsibility of the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University.
