Additional Artists Information:
Co-founded in 1990 by Lane Alexander and Kelly Michaels, Chicago Human Rhythm Project began as a summer festival at the Gus Giordano Dance Center in Evanston, Illinois with a single performance at Northwestern University. CHRP donated proceeds from the concert to Open Hand/Chicago, a meals-on-wheels program serving people affected by HIV/AIDS. Fifty-two students attended the classes and over 200 tap and rhythmic dance enthusiasts attended the benefit concert. CHRP's summer festival is now the oldest and most comprehensive annual tap festival in the world while CHRP has evolved to become the first year round presenter of concert tap and contemporary percussive dance in the world. Greg Spero is a pianist/composer and at 27 years of age, has established himself as one of the most revered and in-demand musicians in the jazz, jazz fusion, instrumental hip-hop and in the electronic music scene. He has performed with acclaimed musicians such as Arturo Sandoval, Corey Wilkes, and Robert Irving III, co-produced tracks with Ski Beatz (Jay Z to Digital Underground founder), Shock G and hip-hop artists such as Murs and Mos Def as well as written music scores for movie and theater productions. The young musician's complex and developed discography is more reminiscent of that of a performer twice his age, which has earned Spero recognition as one of, if not the premiere up-and-coming pianist in Chicago today. He was named "Best Jazz Entertainer" at the 32nd Chicago Music Awards (2013). Learn more about Greg Spero.
