Thodos Dance Chicago has been chosen as part of the MUSIC + MOVEMENT SHOWCASE on Wednesday, May 15 at 7:30 pm. More Information on the MUSIC + MOVEMENT SHOWCASE “Breathtakingly athletic,” Thodos Dance Chicago (TDC) brings contemporary dance to a wider audience with an innovative flair. TDC collaborates with violinist Amanda Batterson, who graduated from Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts in 2010 and has played her violin with a variety of theatre companies across the city. Additional Artists Information:Founded in 1992 by artistic director Melissa Thodos, Thodos Dance Chicago’s unique mission of inspiring expression through dance education, dance creation, and dance performance has established Thodos Dance Chicago as an innovative presence in American contemporary dance. The company has performed in 20 states including Alaska, and in six foreign countries, including the Edinburgh Festival and Istanbul Dance Festival. Its acclaimed New Dances Project has produced over 90 new works in the past 12 years, several of which have received major awards and have been performed in the nation’s leading dance venues. The Company is in residence at the Drucker Center where it conducts a children’s dance curriculum and hosts dance intensives for pre-professional and professional dancers throughout the year. Amanda has played her violin with several theatre companies in Chicago, including Redmoon, Crowded House, the Auditorium Theatre, and Provision Theatre.
